10 Sep My biggest passion

SEPT 10/2017

When I was 2 and a half years old my parents decided to put me in my first ballet class simply because I had a lot of energy as a kid and they wanted a healthy outlet for me to release some of it.  Since that very first ballet class day I have been in love with dance.  At the age of 6 I was competing in my first competition and winning awards.  I loved sharing moments onstage with my team and being apart of something so special.  As a kid it was a way to stay in shape, but as I got older I realized how much passion I had for dance and that it wasn’t just a sport anymore.  When I was 14 I won my first championship.  That was the moment I realized that I was maybe pretty decent at this.  Since then I have won countless trophies, metals, banners, and other prestigious awards with my group and as a soloist and have had many important performance opportunities.  However, it wasn’t about the winning for me.  Sure, I loved the rush I got when they called my name for first place, but the rush of adrenaline and excitement  I got before going on stage was what I lived for.  There’s seriously no way to describe the feeling of being onstage.  I have often been told that the home is my stage and it is true.  I feel so alive and at home when I am performing for an audience.  The most memorable moment I have was when my tap group won the first place overall at the Canadian National Dance Championships in 2014.  We were asked to compete in Germany at the International Tap Dance Championships as the Canadian National Tap Team.  The feeling of stepping on the Worlds stage for the first time with thousands of eyes on me was not even scary, but the best feeling I have ever felt.  I am so, so thankful for all the opportunities I got while I was dancing and I am so blessed to have found something I am so passionate about.
