10 Sep Double Denim Dos and Don’ts

A fashion trend that has recently started catching on more and more is denim on denim.  For years and years it was seen as unfashionable and known as the “Canadian Tuxedo”.  When done correctly it looks great, however with a minor misstep you can wind up looking like you belong in 2001.  Here is a list on do’s and don’t of denim on denim!

DO Play with colours if you are a beginner! Start off by pairing coloured denim like white and black with a denim jacket before diving into double blues.  You can’t go wrong with this!

DON’T wear denim accessories.  Ok, honestly I feel like this should be a given.  Just try and keep the denim confined to your clothing,

DO use denim shades to flatter or hide parts of the body.  Lighter shades draw attention to the part of the body they are covering, where as darker shades give a mores slimming effect.  Just be comfortable in whatever you are wearing!

DON’T wear a denim outfit of all the same weight or wash….you don’t too look COMPLETLEY matchy matchy!  Match a lightweight denim shirt with some heavier mom jeans or Mix up dark wash and light wash

DO distressed denim.  Ripped jeans have been around for awhile now and I don’t think they plan on leaving anytime soon.  Ripped and distressed denim jackets have also been making their way onto the shelves!

DON’T look for western inspiration.  You don’t want to look like you belong in the Wild WildWest!  Now, there is nothing wrong with cowgirls, however you want to steer clear of looking like them on a regular basis!

DO dress up your double denim look with some luxury pieces to give your outfit that UMPH it needs!

If you are unsure about your outfit, or you are not sure where to start, look for inspiration in celebrities!Gigi Handid, Gwen Stefani, Kendall Jenner, and Kate Hudson all knowwhat their doing when it comes to double denim! All in all, make sure you feel comfortable and confident in what you’re wearing and don’t be afraid to try new things!
