13 Sep Make up colours I thought that would never looked good on me

The orange eye shadow trend has taken the world by storm and has even broken the Internet. I’m sure you have noticed as you where scrolling down your timeline pictures and videos pop up with a dramatic or natural look with orange eye makeup.  Honestly when I first saw the trend I was intimidated because orange is not a color I have ever thought about putting on my face. Although I saw the versatility of the look as makeup artists displayed master pieces with hues of orange on Instagram. So i decided to try the trend out and wear it for drinks with some friends. I went to Mac and I purchased redbrick, which had a dark orange appearance with a red undertone. I knew this would suit my skin type because I have red undertones in my skin. I did a smoky eye with redbrick on the end and peach on the inner part of my eye. I was very nervous about the look and made sure I had blended in everything correctly and my eyes looked even. I then walked up to my mother and asked her how I looked and she responded, “If that’s how you want to look when you go out then who am I to stop you”. That comment made me feel nervous but it was way too late and there was no turning back now. Thankfully I was reassured when I went out and girls in the washroom or outside smoking complemented me… I needed the social validation and I will take it wherever I can. After the success with the orange eye shadow I decided to expand my horizon and I purchased Love in Rio a small palette by Nyx Cosmetics. It had a black sparkly color, a dark matte pink, and a dark matte purple. This palette sat in my makeup cupboard for a week until I finally had the guts to apply it to my face. I played it safe at first and experimented with the pink because it was a lighter color. I made my lids bellow the crease more saturated and I blended up above the crease to give it and more opaque appearance. My roommate Jasmine loved it! This reassured me that I had accomplished my mission. In the end I must say I never thought I would see the day that I would be walking around wearing pink or orange eye shadow. I’m very happy I experimented with the colors and I plan to expand my eye shadow collection once I’m finished school and I have a discretionary income again.
