13 Sep No Registry, No Problem

As I gracefully slide into my late twenties, engagements and weddings continue to pop up, along with all the celebratory activities that come with getting married. What I’ve begun to notice is that no two weddings are exactly the same, especially when it comes to the pre–wedding activities. With this being said, navigating through the proper gift-giving protocols has become more difficult than ever. One fairly consistent staple for majority of pre-wedding rituals has remained the “Bridal Shower.” Typically this tradition is about showering the future bride with love, affection and of course gifts. Generally speaking, the bride and groom create a registry to which both shower and wedding gifts can be purchased off of. These gifts usually consist of household items the future couple would be so excited to receive, should they be so lucky their friends and family wish to give them something. But what if there is no registry? Or if the registry is complete? What if the items are priced too high for your personal budget? Or you simply don’t wish to give a standard gift? Nothing says you have to stick to the registry, sometimes the gifts they weren’t expecting or hoping for are the ones they appreciate most. Going off the registry can be tricky, so below is a list of “5 Appropriate Off The Registry” gift ideas with different price points for every personal budget.

If you know your future bride will be hitting the beach on her honeymoon, get her a beach bag and fill it up with beach essentials. Fill it up with items such as sunscreen, towels, tanning oil, flip-flops, magazines, etc. You can include personal or sentimental items if you want. Get her a monogrammed Mrs. towel or include an item you two take to the beach yourselves. You can make it sentimental or standard, just have fun with it!

Simply give them a gift card to a fancy restaurant and write “have a date on me.” Brides and grooms are often overwhelmed with wedding planning and strapped for cash, so getting money towards a nice date can be much appreciated for the couple. This is something you could give from a few people together as well.

Typically they’ll be receiving at least a few new kitchen items, give them a book or two filled with recipes to go along with everything. Or make it personal and create your own cookbook, filled with your favourite recipes and some from the other guests in attendance.

The bride’s big day is fast approaching, a little extra skin care and preparation is always appreciated. What bride wouldn’t want flawless, glowing skin on one of the most important days of her life?

Tickets! Literally tickets to anything they’ll enjoy together, from sporting games, to concerts, to theatre shows or theme parks. The type of tickets you give them should be based off the couple’s own personal interests. This is a gift that you could also give with another friend or attendee.
