10 Dec Why I Shouldn’t Be Employed by A Shoe Store

I work in a mid-price range shoe store. I am also obsessed with shoes. I’m a sucker for a great pair of heels, or a fashionable casual running shoe. There is no in between when you’re me. Working in a shoe store for me, is like being a kid in a candy store. Yes, I’m working and providing service to anyone who comes in the store, but also I’m admiring the new shoes we’ve gotten in and making money to be able to spend my next paycheque on those new Joie booties we just got in. My room at home is not very big, I have a single sized bed, a couple of dressers, and small closet. I also have this thing people call a desk… I prefer to call it my shoe shelf. My desk is quite literally piled and packed with my shoes, and that’s not even all of them! I had to start a second shoe pile in the bottom of my closet. Earlier this week I bought a new pair of Adidas Stan Smiths, (mind you I already own 3 other versions of the same shoe), and when I got home I realized, I literally do not have anywhere to fit my new box of shoes! I’m pushing it, I know, and I also have a spending problem on shoes, I know. But how can I say no to the gorgeous new Rebecca Minkoff flats that are now sitting on the top shelf of the display when I walk in to work? Every shift I work is a constant struggle between “make the money and save, save, save!” and “OU these shoes are so cute and would only cost me $180!!” You’re probably thinking “WTF who spends that much on one pair of shoes!?” I do. Easily. It’s a problem I’m kind of working on.

Moral of the story, don’t accept a position at a store that you love because your paycheques WILL go back into the company!!
