I am a huge movie buff and I recently watched a film called ‘The Intern’ on Netflix. The movie is written, produced and directed by Academy Award nominee Nancy Meyers. The Intern featured my favourite Hollywood actors Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.

The Intern tells the story of Ben Whittaker, played by two-time Academy award winner Robert De Niro, a 70-year old retiree and widower who has discovered that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.  After seeing a job advertisement that is looking for “senior” interns, Ben decides to apply for the position. The internship is for an e-commerce fashion company, founded and run by Jules Ostin, played by Academy award winner, Anne Hathaway.

He is offered the internship and he seizes the opportunity to get back in the game. Ben becomes a senior intern at the online clothingretailing company, which has over 200 employees and works for Jules.

Jules Ostin plays a successful businesswoman and is much younger than Ben. She was originally skeptical of the senior internship program; when Ben was hired, she did not really seem to trust him.  But there were questions about Jules too:  was there something in her private life she wanted to hide, or did she just fear scrutiny?  Ben with his experience brings a lot to the table professionally and also personally. He becomes Jules confidant, advisor, and a father figure to her.

The Intern has a great plot, brilliantly executed and acted. Anne Hathaway played the role of a successful entrepreneur who loves her job, but still feels guilty about being a working wife and mom with an unemployed husband at home taking care of her infant daughter.

Both of these Oscar-winning actors gave genuine, warm performances. Anne Hathaway looks chic and fashionable. I fell in love with her wardrobe for the movie. Overall a well made entertaining movie to watch.
