FOREVER 21

ENTRANCE: headed to the right

Forever 21 had 6 manikins in the window dressed in peaches blues and blushes.

The style of dressing seemed to target those under the age of 21.

Most of the merchandise was separated be colour. And graphics on sweatshirts caps and denim clothing were a big trend.

As you headed towards the back of the store some accessories could be seen, these included bags, mini back packs and hats.

The target demographic also changed to over 21 year olds. The colour scheme as more muted and metallic colours were more prominent. Also instead of graphics, bomber and sweatshirts were embroidered with flower themed designs.

There were male manikins towards the windows right of the store dressed in acid wash denim blues and whites. The cashier desk could not be seen on this level which means that customers are likely to go through the whole store before a purchase is made.

ZARA

ENTRANCE: headed to the left

Zara had bare windows with sale signs up.

There were six manikins dressed in different values of pinks and reds; gearing up for Valentine’s Day.

The fashion was more elevated than Forever 21 and H&M. The had small section for under 21s with Yeezy style clothing with sequins and sparkles were also but the rest was sale clothes, military style clothing , business wear ,ruffles and oversized jumpers.

The clothes on the perimeter of the store were paired with shoes, giving the consumer an idea of what could be paired with the outfit.

The cashier’s desks were at the back of the store.

H&M

ENTRANCE: headed to the right

H&M had 7 female manikins in the left window and 4 male manikins on the right. The backdrop was a light shade of pink and the manikins were dressed in semi casual to casual clothing.

The demographic target market could be over 21s. The price point is higher than Forever 21 but lower than Zara.

They offer a basics section, make up, shoes and accessories. The shoes and accessories had a pastel and metallic theme.

What I learnt.

Store Windows and manikin dressing plays a big part in how each store differentiates itself, each store caters to the same market but it is likely that different consumers form different age groups will enter due to their first impressions . All offer similar trends and clothing but I feel H&M offers consumers more in terms of products.
