06 Sep Humans- The Real Animals
Last month, Netflix released a documentary called “Women who kill Lions”. The documentary is about “Female big game hunters Rebecca Francis and Jacine Jadresko talk candidly about why they participate in this blood sport and the extreme levels of abuse they have received including from celebrities.” Nothing made me more furious than seeing the documentary come up on my ‘suggested’ feed. To me, Netflix was trying to glorify what these women do.
I am passionate about animals and their welfare. I want to be their voice when no one else will be. I want to protect them from harm and do everything I possible can to save them from the ill treatments they face throughout their lives.
Everyday, there is at least one video on Facebook, about some animal that was abused by either a group of children, teenagers, adults, or even zookeepers. Just because they cannot come forward and issue FIRs against such people, does not mean that they are to be harassed and treated badly. Animals have feeling. They are smart, loving, caring, and have a will to live. To torture them to a point where they are half dead, and leaving them to die in pain, is inhumane. Such behaviour should be punishable and strict laws should be set in place to protect animals.
Dogs for example, are loving and caring family animals. However, they are victims of domestic abuse and are often beaten and abused by their owners. Some of them are even left locked up at home, while the family moves to another country or state.
People need to understand that animals are not toys. They aren’t there for you to entertain yourself with. They have feelings. They are smart and compassionate. People need to realize that the same animal, whom they are abusing, has capabilities of hurting you back, but the simply won’t, because maybe, they aren’t the real animal. Humans have lost all humanity. We abuse. We kill. We torture. Why? Simple because we can?
