14 Sep 5 Ways to De-Stress When Life Gets Rough
Ah September, what a month, new season and a new school year, with that being said, with a new school year comes new problems aka stress, everyone’s worst enemy. Here are some tips to help you sustain yourself during the school year.
Set goals
to get through the work, set little rewards for yourself to help you accomplish each task. For example, promise yourself you will check out your Instagram feed for 10 minutes after completing one task of finishing one assignment. Another way this can be approached is completing large tasks and giving yourself a bigger reward at the end. For example, purchasing a bottle of wine after finals are completed.
Music Type
We all love to jam to music and think it helps us through the task but sometimes music can be distracting. For example, I love rap music but noticed that I’m more focused on rapping the lyrics than paying attention to my task. If you have this tendency, I highly recommend creating a playlist where you can stay focused without singing along. I would opt for an electronic or wavy music since it is nice background music that anyone can work along to. I recommend listening to Flume, 20 ysl, and Mura Masa to create a productive atmosphere. However, there are playlists on Apple music, SoundCloud, Spotify, and 8tracks that are made to ease the soul.
Essential Oils
This may be cliché but essential oils are proven to distress. There are so many aromatic scents that help calm anxiety and stress, for example, Lavender oil can ease the mind. At Homesense or Winners there is a large selection of essentials oils that are affordable ranging from prices 4.99-12.99.
Take little breaks
If you are going ham on a project, take small periodic breaks. For example, paint your nails or take a shower, so you don’t feel as overwhelmed.
Create a checklist Creating a checklist will organize your tasks and it’s the best feeling in the world when crossing it off your list.
