22 Oct Canadian Girl… Not So Canadian.
Canadians love the cold and snow, eh? Not this Torontonian. When the first leaf falls in the month of September my loving summer smile starts to turn into a frown. With the cool breeze picking up I find myself never feeling warm for the million months Canada has as winter… We don’t actually have a million months of winter in Canada but it sure does feel that way. I like to picture myself on a nice warm beach in California for most of the freezing cold days but unfortunately I don’t get to hibernate, so I’m stuck baring the cold. Instead of us having a summer break I feel like we need to start changing it to winter breaks; 1. we’d get more months off of school, thats always a bonus for some. 2. We could hide away from the snow and cold, that would be me; maybe travel somewhere warm knowing you won’t miss anything important.
You’re probably thinking why doesn’t this crazy chick just move to L.A already!! Well unfortunately for me, I didn’t hit the jackpot with the cash flow and I’m stuck here in this frozen tundra until I graduate from Fashion School and get my career going.
Now I really want to say that there is a bright side to living in Canada throughout the winter, but I can’t, there is no bright side. I’d rather be making angels in the sand than angels in the snow or building a sand castle rather than a snowman. Sure Christmas is fun, I get to see my family, eat turkey and listen to those lovely Christmas tunes… NOT! As fun as hanging out with family sounds, I’d still rather do it somewhere tropical. And for Christmas music, no thank you, I would rather not go riding in a one horse open sleigh, I’d rather be lounging on the beach listening to the waves.
