19 Mar Cozy up around the corner

Close co is a cozy spot where people come together for a unique dining and lounging experience.  It is an old school neighbourhood eatery where regulars and newbies alike come together to enjoy creative food, drinks, music and fun. The small space creates an intimacy and sometimes even the opportunity for a chance encounter: a shared seat, a smile, a sense of something communal. CLOSE CO is that place around the corner…it literally was the case for me. When I used to live in Winnipeg, I lived a street over. Close Company opened in February 2016 in the former location of a barbershop.

Co-owned by Cam Chabot and Tammie Rocke, the restaurant is literally a small business with just 10 seats and space for four at the bar. Despite its small size, Chabot says Close Co. has been a big hit with customers. Led by chef Frank McCann, Close Co. serves up share plates in the range of $10 to $15 that follow American-style cuisine but also pulls from other culinary influences. The menu is always changing and features rotating specials.
