How to save your skin this winter

Switch to a gentler cleanser

In spite of the fact that having a steaming hot shower or a long soak a hot bath may feel glorious amid those nippy January days, heated water strips away a significant part of the defensive oil and dampness from our skin, drying it out. By dialing down the temperature of the water a bit, particularly when washing your face and other skin that is more delicate, you can limit this impact.

You may need to think about exchanging your ordinary chemical for a gentler version during the icy winter months. Numerous dermatologists prescribe non-frothing chemicals, as they have less alkalinity than those that soap up, and don’t strip away as much dampness from your skin as they clean. We propose deciding on an impartial pH chemical to limit the drying impact that cleansers and cleaning agents can have on your skin.

Moisturize!!

I can’t say this enough. For me, after washing and toning I apply a serum them a thick cream. Sometimes if needed I will re-apply cream throughout the day and use an even thicker cream at night.

My favourite brands include

-The Abnormal Skin Company

-Kiehl’s

-Nivea

Drink LOTS of Water

Your body will do its best to keep your skin hydrated, but without enough water your skin will be one of the first things to feel the effects of dehydration. Winter can be a time when we fall in to the habit of drinking more warm beverages like coffee and tea, just because you don’t feel thirsty doesn’t mean you don’t need to drink water. Keep a refillable water bottle close by, especially at work where it can be easy to miss drinking the necessary water we need unless it’s right there at hand.
