19 Mar The “Nu” Numa Seebi

The Numa that we see arrives to class fashionably and unapologetically late. This bare faced beauty sits quietly in the back on her Iphone, only really speaking when spoken to. The ironic thing is she is the ultimate networker and make up enthusiast, with a vast circle of friends and avid social life. This is evident on her social media, especially Instagram; where she has 2 profiles, one business and the other, well for pleasure. Her pleasure/private profile hosts more than 2000 thousand followers and has mostly pictures of herself and selfies. Her business profile consists of pictures of clients and make-up looks by her. Turning her gift and love of make-up, into a business shows how enterprising this young woman can be.

Numa comes from a large family, well what we would call large in this day and age. The second born out of 6 siblings means that she is always surrounded by people. She identifies as Muslim but that does not necessarily take precedence in her life. Doing what she loves and spending time with the people she loves is important to her.

You wonder, what does Numa love?

“I love make-up and trying new things”

This is evident on  her Instagram where she showcases her make up artistry skills in every selfie and client picture.

Numa has been running her business for nearly a year and has had over 40 clients during that period. Her MUA services start of at $35 and through this she seems to have established her “Nu” look.

This look currently consists of glitter, a glossy lip, sharp contour and popping highlight. Her favourite brands at the moment are, Cat Von D, 2face , Tarte, Becca, Nyx lip liner and Mac concealer and lip gloss from Forever 21. Sephora is her Mecca of make-up, that’s where she finds all she needs, her tools of the trade. Numa loves cosmetics so much so that the products she would never leave the house without are her debit card, carmex and lip gloss.

The Numa we know dons a head scarf, sneakers and backpack, the only cosmetic she wears is the carmex on her lips. “Nu” is a totally different person. She is glamourous and sultry, she’s a grown go getter with an attitude to match. Her hair flows and she has a wigs for every season. Her nails are manicured and her heels and clothes are on point. Legs, cleavage, lashes, shes got it all. Numa and Nu are like Jekyll and Hyde without the drama.

So why does Nu not make a regular appearance at school?

“People actually ask me that all the time, honestly I don’t have the time, I have to get up and go, I don’t want to be late for class (chuckles) even though I always am.

She never goes out to events without her Nu look, it transforms her form the outside in, it gives her confidence, so much so that her look has gotten her modelling and hosting opportunities.

When it comes to entertainment, more specifically Numa’s world of entertainment she really opened up. She was exposed to the club scene at a young age and that has influenced her taste in music and sense of style. This is also where she does most of her networking.

Getting ready is like a ritual which involves picking an outfit, pre-praising the party Gods and creating cosmetic looks that catch the eye.

“I usually take about 3 hours to get ready, I think this is a normal amount to time.”

Her ultimate goal is to work in the world of entertainment and she hopes to achieve this in the next 7 years, in which she also wants to be an entrepreneurial traveller, married, with kids. She wanted to be a stylist but right now shes “exploring” the options in the entertainment and fashion world

Her definition of success is simply completing what you have started, reaching your goals and staying committed.

“I want people to remember for being a good person, and then for my brand”

There’s no doubt she will be successful in doing that.
